I originally began Eco Ally as an online resource for young people who want to make a positive impact in response to the climate crisis, environmental injustice, and widespread biodiversity loss. The topics included the three most impactful ways we can make a difference with our lives — in the ways we live, work, and engage with our communities.
Since then, I’ve learned a lot about the true nature of the climate crisis and what it’s going to take to keep Earth’s warming below 2 degrees Celsius.
Based on what I’ve learned since originally starting this blog, here’s what I’m doing differently:
1. Advocating for a Green New Deal, the only plan that meets the scale of the climate crisis and puts people and planet over profit.
2. Recognizing and affirming the necessity of Indigenous leadership in environmental activism, stepping back from posting my own leadership and opinions in topics related to environmental activism.
3. Stepping back from topics on “sustainable living” in favor of holding corporations and governments responsible for their actions and inactions in response to the global climate crisis, biodiversity crisis, and environmental degradation via deforestation, air pollution, water pollution, plastic pollution, etc.
4. Focusing my efforts exclusively on eco/social entrepreneurship, my personal zone of experience and genius.
I’ll be leaving up my original blog posts here on Eco Ally, but as of Fall 2020 the only new content that will be posted here will be educational, actionable blog posts and videos intended to empower young people to make the biggest positive impact possible, for themselves and our global communities, as quickly as possible, via eco/social entrepreneurship.
Thanks for reading, I’m looking forward to beginning this new chapter with you!
